#6 Wyoming Seminary hasn’t lost a game by more than 4 this season. But besides that, all of their games have been tight. They will travel to #3 Holy Redeemer. The Lady Royals won both games 1-0 this year, however I smell the first upset of district playoffs.

#5 Delaware Valley will take the very long drive to Luzerne County, and take on #4 Wyoming Valley West. Both teams finished with an almost identical record. WVW (6-8-1), Del Val (6-9-3).

Prediction: Wyoming Valley West 3, Delaware Valley 2 OT

#3 Wilkes-Barre Area finished the season with a record below .500, but it was still good enough for a first round home game. The Wolfpack takes on #6 Scranton, who they beat in the first round last year. Prediction: Wilkes-Barre Area 2, Scranton 0

Prediction: Valley View 2, Wallenpaupack 0

#6 Dallas takes on #3 Crestwood in which will definitely be a highly anticipated match. You know you are getting a good game when these two teams match up. Huge rivals in the WVC, but only one can come out on top. Dallas won both games this year (3-2, 1-0).

Prediction: Dallas 2, Crestwood 1 - double OT

2021 District 2 Class 2A Boy’s Soccer

#8 Western Wayne clinched the final seed after games concluded on 10/28/21. The Wildcats will travel to play #1 Wyoming Area. Kendall Heck leads the league with 30 goals scored for the Warriors. These two teams did match up during the season, with Wyoming Area winning 4-1.

Prediction: Wyoming Area 4, Western Wayne 2

#5 Lakeland comes to town, and will head over to Forty Fort to take on the #4 seed Holy Redeemer. Seeding wise, I do view this game as an upset.

Prediction: Lakeland 4, Holy Redeemer 1

#7 Scranton Prep takes on #2 Dunmore in the first round of action in Class 2A. Prep finished the season with a 4-10-2 record. However, they keep their games tight. Their biggest loss came against North Pocono (4-0) in the first week of the season. Dunmore’s Maynor Castro-Lemus is third in the league with goals scored (22). #5 Old Forge takes on their crosstown rival in #4 Riverside. The Blue Devils are without their star Tyler Pepsin, while Riverside’s Gary Mrozinski has been tearing it up. Mrozinski has 14 goals and 13 assists for the Vikings this season. Riverside won both matchups this season by score of 4-2 & 3-2. Prediction: Riverside 3, Old Forge 2 - double OT

#7 Gregory the Great will head to #2 Blue Ridge for their first round opener. Gerald Welsted has 34 goals scored for the Raiders, which is second in the league.

Prediction: Blue Ridge 4, Gregory the Great 1

Last, but not least. #6 Mountain View will take on #3 Elk Lake. Matt Mowry has 22 goals scored for the Warriors this season, and Jake Gustin is not far behind with 20. Nathan Ofalt leads the scoring with 9 for Mountain View. Despite finishing 6-9, the Eagles are reigning district champions and will most certainly put up a fight.
