With our Wyoming Valley Conference awards coming to an end, three players from the area took home “Offensive Player of the Year.”
Tanner Nilon of Wilkes-Barre Area, who joined the 100 goal club this season won our “Offensive Player of the Year” award for Division 1. Nilon scored 21 goals during the year, which was third in the league. He also added a very impressive 8 assists to his numbers. Tanner began his high school soccer career at Meyers High School, but after the consolidation of the 3 high schools, changes were soon to come. Nilon adapted very well with the Pack, and even went on to help win them a district title in their inaugural season last year. Respectively, Nick Ruggeri of Crestwood and Gavin Huey of Hazleton Area finished behind Nilon in our polls.
Max Paczewski of Lake-Lehman won our “Offensive Player of the Year” award for Division 2 in the Wyoming Valley Conference. Paczewski is a 4 time all-star, and proved to everybody yet again that he is one of the most prolific scorers in the league. He led the league with 31 goals, and tallied 4 assists. Thomas Iskra & Luke Johns (Wyoming Sem) finished behind Paczewski in our polls.
Kayla Fernandez of Berwick took home the honors for the girl‘s award. What else is there to say about her, besides the fact that she is one the best scorers in the league. For a second straight season, she led the league with 26 goals and even led the league with her 13 assists. She played a major role in the Lady Bulldogs’ district championship title this year. It will be exciting to see what she is capable of next year. Respectively, Krystal Haertter of Wilkes-Barre Area, followed by Hailey Kaschak of Hazleton Area finished behind Fernandez.
